Arran Lee Wright recently went on an episode of ITV’s ‘This Morning’ to talk about his new creation.

Arran had co-created Samantha, who is a sex doll with Artificial Intelligence (AI.) The doll was introduced by Barcelona based designer, Sergi Santos, earlier this year. Samantha is capable of making simple romantic comments and a small variety of sounds.

The married father of two goes on the show to defend his doll and argues for her position within the family.

On the show, Arran said: ‘my children [aged three and five], they say, ‘where’s Samantha?’’

Arran went on to say: ‘she can talk about animals, she can talk about philosophy, she can talk about science. She’s programmed with a thousand jokes.’

Armed with a ‘family mode’ as well, Arran’s wife, Hannah Nguyen, says that she is happy to have the doll around.

Hannah said: ‘we have fun with her. I have no worry about someone else actually there for Arran to have an affair. We don’t have to worry about some sort of disease. It’s fun to have her around.’

Arran went on to describe how the real-life figurine was meant to help people. ‘It’s not to replace people. We’re not trying to replace women, it’s not about that’

Arran said: ‘it’s as a supplement … to help people. I believe it can do that. It can help people enhance their relationship.’

But a regular guest on the show and also TV psychologist, Emma Kenny, had a different opinion.

‘One of the things that we realize in psychology is sometimes, just because we can do something, doesn’t mean that we should do it. I think sex dolls are a perfect example.’

‘This is not real. She’s a piece of whatever you’ve made. It doesn’t matter that she’s got a voice. That absolutely personifies what I feel is so wrong with this.’
