Miraculous Recovery of a Stray Dog Who Had Almost Turned To “Stone”
This sick and starving stray dog was brought back from the brink of death thanks to the good work of these kind rescuers.
A stray dog was seen wandering alone on a roadside in Udaipur, a city in northwest India, in an appalling condition. All her hair had fallen out, and her skin, which was covered with mange, felt like “stone.” Her life was hanging by a thread until she was rescued by Animal Aid Unlimited. The team named her Mabel.
The rescuers were pessimistic about Mabel’s chance of survival, but they still took her in.
The dog, wary of humans, was treated for mange and other serious health issues.
Miraculously, Mabel lived to tell her tale. After two months of tender love and care, she was nursed back to the pink of health. Not only did she grow back her fur, her skin, which initially felt like “stone,” had also softened.
The healing was not just a physical one.
Her personality became upbeat and radiant too! She loves wagging her tail, running around with other dogs, and showering kisses on her rescuers!Kudos to Animal Aid Unlimited for giving Mabel a new lease of life!
The issue of stray dogs is one of major concern in India.
According to BBC News, India has approximately 30 million stray dogs.
Organizations like Animal Aid Unlimited have been actively rescuing the stray animals in Udaipur since its inception in 2002.“Because of Animal Aid, Udaipur has the highest per capita number of animal protectors—people who call on us to rescue injured or ill street animals—of any city in India,” Erika Abrams, co-founder of Animal Aid Unlimited, told Dogster.com.
“Even animals like Mabel who at first sight look like they have no hope can make fantastic recoveries if given the chance,” stated the organization on its website.
