A Single Mom Got Eyebrow Feathered Tattoo… But What She Got On Her Eyebrow Was Serious Infection

A single mom-of-three is claiming her eyebrow appointment turned into a medical nightmare after she contracted a severe infection.

Amanda Coats posted pictures that showed how the infection had caused her eyebrows and the surrounding skin to completely fall off.

The Melbourne mom had gone to a clinic to get her eyebrows feather tattooed, a procedure that is supposed to make brows look thicker.

Amanda claimed in a Facebook post, which has since gone viral, that the beautician who did her treatment was working on another client’s brows at the same time.

‘She was very rushed, going in and out of the room attending to other clients during my procedure and also doing another eyebrow tattoo at the same time,’ she wrote.

‘She did not put new gloves on each time, which does not keep things sterile.’

Amanda told Daily Mail Australia that she woke up in pain, and saw that the skin surrounding her brows was starting to peel.

‘I rang her straight away and said skin was coming off and she put it down to color fading,’ Amanda said.

‘I tried to explain that skin was actually coming away and she kept brushing me off.’

There was puss on her eyebrows, and as they swelled up it began to seep into her eyes, which ‘blew up’ in size, she added.

Amanda said she asked the beautician if she could come in and show her what was happening, but claimed she was once again ignored.

‘She said fading was normal and to wait for my retouch. I said it wasn’t fading and that patches of skin were coming away. She said I was being dramatic.’

Amanda said she persisted, and continued to send her beautician photos of the developing infection.

‘She said she didn’t get them or she said she didn’t see them. I emailed and Facebook messaged her and kept calling.’

‘I kept persisting and she just didn’t care.’

Amanda said she has had to go to the doctors ‘nearly every second day’ and is currently on antibiotics, an antibiotic cream for her eyes, and steroids for swelling.

‘I have to constantly dress the wounds. The cost of all this is now greater than what I paid for the procedure,’ she wrote on Facebook.

Amanda said she is currently in terrible pain and currently can’t even drive ‘due to my eyes’.

‘The pain is just terrible, I have numbness and severe migraines,’ she wrote. ‘I am most likely going to end up with scarring.’

When contacted, the owner of the clinic denied Amanda’s version of events, saying she was ‘delighted’ after leaving the clinic.

He claimed Amanda rang the clinic once when she was concerned about the color in her eyebrows fading, which he added is ‘quite normal’.

The owner said they didn’t hear from Amanda again until two and a half weeks after the appointment, in which she forwarded a photo of her infected eyebrow.

‘There’s no way we could be possibly responsible for the infection at that stage, two and a half weeks after the procedure,’ he said.

 ‘My wife has done over 2,000 of these procedures, and we’ve never had any issues of infection.’

‘We’ve been unable to defend ourselves and we are taking action against Amanda for defamation and that’s in the process of being issued.’

Amanda said she has also gained legal representation.
