For almost two thousand years, one of the most interesting debates has been going on – whether Jesus really existed or not.
And in order to prove that they’re right, people on each side have been searching for evidence.
Well, here’s something that could offer more information about the time period when Jesus was alive.
Recently, archaeologists found a 1800-year-old tablet at the bottom of the sea nearby Tel Dor, which is just outside the the city of Haifa.
In the ancient days, this would be close to the site of the biblical city of Tor.
This extraordinary tablet, made of stone, is about 33 inches tall and weighs over 1,300 pounds.
Judging by its size, the sheer amount of information available from the tablet, if deciphered, is beyond imagination.

And not surprisingly, many people including archaeologists and Christians were thrilled to find this new evidence.
According to Professor Assaf Yasur-Landau from the University of Haifa,”For the first time, we can identify with certainty the nameof the Roman governor of Judea during the critical period leading up to the Bar Kochba revolt.
Apart from that, this is only the second time that the name ‘Judea’ has appeared on an inscription from the Roman period.”
“What we have here is an inscription dated to just before Judea ceased to exist as a province under that name,” added Professor Yasur-Landau.
And this is because the Romans renamed Judea as Syria-Palestinia as an effort to erase the Jews from history.

So this tablet is significant just by mentioning the name Judea, since the province Judea only existed a little bit after the death of Jesus.
So researchers are currently working day and night – trying to understand what it says about Judea and possibly about Jesus as well.
What an incredible news! Once the historians are able to learn the information written on this tablet, we may be able to get the answers to our questions in relation to Christianity.
