Being a parent is one of the most rewarding and fulfilling things you can do… It’s also quite possibly the hardest darn job in the world.
What with all the tantrums, bedtime stories and food mishaps, it hardly leaves any time for YOU. It’s no wonder, then, that so many parents take to the comfort of the internet to vent their frustrations.
While looking after your little angels can be a dream come true – it can sometimes be a living nightmare too. And, the truth is, at times we all feel like we’re not sure what we’re doing.
Just so you know, you’re totally not alone in your parenting struggles. And, to prove it, here are 20 little Tweets from parents who feel JUST like you. Enjoy!
1. When your kid mentions your wrinkles
The worst part is, you just KNOW that they are not trying to be offensive. They are actually asking a genuine question… Which then makes you wonder how bad your lines really are. Urgh, thanks kid.
2. When they SCARE the living daylight out of you
When you’re a parent, every little noise could spell disaster. We basically walk around on high alert, praying that nothing bad happens… So, when we hear a thud, it’s red alert time.
3. When you accidentally eat your kid’s food
Hey, your kids’ snacks are tasty – that’s why they love them so much. The only problem is that you just so happen to crave them from time to time. “Sorry, Timmy, I ate ALL the chocolate… again.”
4. When you have to remember other people’s kids’ names
I have a hard enough time keeping track of my own little bundles of joy. Trying to remember what OTHER people have called their kids is the last thing on my ‘to do’ list.
5. When your kids make you late for everything
It’s almost like your children know when you’re in a rush so they purposely start going slower and slower… and slooooooower. You can’t prove that it’s their intention to make you late, but you reckon it might be.
6. Well, that was a BIG mistake
Note to self: NEVER give your kids a reason to stay up later than they should. If you ask them whether they need anything before bed, they will absolutely find a million things that they just have to have before they can sleep.
7. When you feel like the house nurse
In a house full of kids, illnesses tend to spread SUPER fast. First one kid comes back with the sniffles… and before you know it everyone in the place is sneezing like mad.
8. When your child makes a massive mess
Have you ever looked under the table after your kid’s eaten a meal? Yeah, don’t do that! It looks like an actual crime scene – not a pretty sight at all.
9. When your 3-year-old has a good point
Am I the only one who thinks that this is actually kind of genius? Sure, the hood is MEANT to cover your head, but what if you want to get a little more inventive? This child has a good point.
10. When the morning rush is too much to handle
Kids know what time the bus leaves, but they like to play a little game called ‘I’m going to leave the house exactly one second before the bus gets here’ every morning. Yeah, thanks for that one.
11. When your child ruins your look
This kid had no idea how on the mark their comment was. Sometimes, it’s truly hard to look stylish and look after a kid at the same time. That’s just life.
12. When your child grosses you out
Children seem to have no idea what germs are… Which means that they are happy to lick and spit on just about everything. If your kid gives you something to eat, you should totally inspect it first.
13. When you teach your kids about REAL LIFE
Conan O’Brien knew just how to teach his kids about taxes… This has to be one of the tastiest ways to teach your little ones a real life lesson ever.
14. When your kids question your way of life
Bread is more than just a delicious snack or an essential sandwich componant – it’s a way of life. The sooner your child learns that, the better really.
15. When they won’t stop eating!
Seriouly, children’s stomachs seem to be bottomless pits! It doens’t matter how much food you give them, they ALWAYS have room for more and more. How is this wizzardry possible?
16. Do as I say, not as I do!
When you tell your kids about the general life rules that you just so happen to break all the time. Hey, just because you make mistakes, that doens’t mean they have to.
17. When your children are always under your feet
Seriourly, everywhere you go, your little ons will follow… and try to trip you up. They claim that they’re not doing it on purpose, but you know the truth. They’re little tinkers!
18. When you turn into your own mother
When you cath yourself saying things that your mom DEFINITELY said to you as a kid… That’s how you know that you’ve become a true adult. Scary, isn’t it?
19. When you forget to wake up
Kids will seriously NOT stand for your laziness. If you’re not up and out of bed by 6.30am, they are sure to let you know about it. After all, they need food and they need it now.
20. When your kids are off school… and you freak out
Those school breaks creep up on you don’t they? Then, when they’re here, you have a proper freak out because you just don’t know what to do! We’ve all been there.
