This woman experienced a scene straight out of a horror film. A Georgia woman was kidnapped, dragged to a strange parking lot where she was brutally attacked. In a sick twist, her attacker forced her to call her boyfriend so he could hear her screams as she was assaulted.
In the heat of the moment the woman quickly realized that could use this to her advantage. She tricked the attacker into thinking she was calling her boyfriend, but she was actually calling 911.
When senior operator Deonte Smith answered the call, he instantly knew something was wrong. Thankfully Deonte was a quick learner as he began to play along, realizing what the woman wanted him to do. He stayed on the line with her throughout the entire attack until the police arrived.
“(It was) the most extreme call of my career”, Smith told WSB-TV
Deonte had to stay professional and calm while on the phone even though in the back of his mind all he could think was his daughter, sister, and his mother.Thankfully he managed to stay calm and on his wits.
Even when the attacker got on the phone, he still played the part of “the boyfriend” convincingly.Deonte tried to convince the attacker to stop, but the attacker continued. Deonte had already dispatched police to the scene of the attack.
It’s amazing how well he calm he was able to be when speaking to such a twisted and dark mind.
Through the victim’s brilliant idea and Deonte’s amazing skills, the victim was saved and the attacker arrested. Deonte isn’t taking even credit as a hero though. He is instead thanking the victim for her quick thinking and bravery. A humble hero Deonte is, truly.
Deonte is also thanking divine intervention for this amazing feat. Had the victim called just shortly after, Deonte, the only male operator on the floor, would’ve been on his break. Had he not picked up that phone, this story would have a much more tragic ending.
The 27-year-old alleged attacker, Robert Timothy Giles, was arrested by police at the scene of the crime. His charges include rape, false imprisonment and obstruction charges. We hope that the judge does not go lightly on this attacker for these truly reprehensible crime.
